Here is an easy way to improve your health and well-being … by minding and changing your language…  Seriously! Your spoken words AND internal dialogue. Your body is ‘listening’ and responding to this at the cellular level, either positively or negatively. With your thoughts and words you can create either internal ‘stress’ and ‘dis-ease’ or ease, harmony, good health and wellbeing. You have choice and you are in control. It takes awareness and practice, but take it from personal and professional experience this is transformative and something we can teach children from a very young age that will serve them a lifetime. It is never too late to make a fresh start, so if you’re up for it …

We don’t screw our head on our body every day. Our mind and body are one … connected and inter-connected. Our body is responding to our core beliefs, thoughts and language, and to the words we hear others use. For example, a metaphor like, “I feel I have the weight of the world on my shoulders” is powerful and can negatively affect health and wellbeing. We shouldn’t be too surprised when corresponding aches and pains show up like in this case neck and shoulder pain, headaches or joints that ache.

Metaphors are described as …
“a figure of speech applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.”

The use of metaphors can have a negative or positive affect on our health and life experience. By choosing and using words and language consciously and becoming aware of phrases we use, we can send positive signals to the body. Often we respond with thoughts and say things unconsciously and automatically. Begin to notice this and develop your awareness. Use positive resourceful thoughts, words and phrases to optimize your health and well-being.

We shouldn’t be surprised to experience a belly ache if we think / say / believe someone can “make us sick to our stomach.” …

What negative effects on the body might manifest from these do you think? …
“It’s like I’m being stretched to the limit”
“I’m pulling a ball and chain around.”
“I have been turned inside out.”
“My heart is broken.”
“I’m all bottled up with anger.”
“This is doing my head in.”
“Just one more thing and I’ll explode.”
“I am burning up and boiling mad.”

There’s a Buddhist saying, “he who holds the hot coals of anger gets burned.”

Consciously and deliberately use more phrases and metaphors like these …
“Life is a breeze.”
“This is like a breath of fresh air.”
“It’s like music to my ears.”
“My future is really bright.”
“I have a rainbow of hope.”
“I’m taking a load off.”
“The sweet smell of success.”

I am aware this is not compelling to everyone, and maybe you haven’t given it much thought before now but if you have read this far, know that there are myriad documented examples of how the ‘placebo effect’, which is the power of the mind to heal and even convert sometimes fatal prognosis into complete remission. Then there is the less well known ‘nocebo effect’ which can have the opposite effect. Negative beliefs, thoughts and language can lead to disease (‘dis-ease’) within the body. This is another reason I strongly recommend the use and practice of positive daily affirmations.

In my work as a holistic life coach, I make a note of words and metaphors my clients use to describe their ‘problems’ or circumstances. I subsequently use these in their session along with techniques to release and neutralize the associated negative emotions and often any physical symptoms fade or completely subside in the process.

Here is a testimonial from a client who used some very powerful metaphors and had strong language and beliefs supporting his condition of life-long asthma. After one session his asthma has completely gone along with his inhalers. His language has improved too!

25 YEARS OF ASTHMA and INHALERS GONE! …
“I am in my early 30’s and have a young family and very busy life. I’ve suffered from asthma since a child, nearly dying at age 5. I’ve tried everything and used inhalers my entire life. It has restricted and limited me all my life. After my session with Gordon my inhalers are no longer required. I feel I am free of all my asthma symptoms and all the stress that surrounded my condition. I feel great and now have an invaluable life skill I can use to improve my health. Thank you Gordon!” ~ B.S.

I do believe all the ideas you’ve introduced on your post. They’re really convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for novices. May just you please lengthen them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.

Still, the posts are too brief for beginners.

Could you please lengthen them just a little from subsequent time?
    Many thanks to the post.
