Are you consciously tapping into your emotional intelligence?
I’m sure like me you prefer to feel ‘good’ rather than ‘bad’ … Feeling ‘good’ can be described as peaceful; happy; excited; loved; optimistic; grateful; joyful; confident; blissful; relaxed and so on. Feeling ‘bad’ is described in all kinds of ways and by using words and labels to best convey these feelings like: anxious; stressed; scared; depressed; overwhelmed; traumatized; sad; angry; guilty; worried; dreadful, rejected; lonely; nervous and so on. Here is a truth … We all successfully produce our own feelings and we have control to feel the way we want. The key is to create the feelings we want CONSCIOUSLY.
Emotions don’t really have words or labels but we apply lots of them to describe how we feel.
THERE ARE REALLY ONLY 3 FEELINGS – GOOD, BAD and NEUTRAL
It is impossible to feel good and bad at the same time just as we cannot put our arm up and down at the same time. WE ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE. So what do you prefer? I often joke that if someone prefers to feel bad, I can teach them how to make it worse! I’ve still to meet that person.
Assuming you want to create good, or at least neutral feelings, the key is to make it a conscious choice and produce them with awareness. Regularly check in with yourself and just notice how you feel. Develop the habit to be aware of your feelings like an observer or witness. Check in with yourself right now. Which of the three feelings are you creating and what do you want to create?
You can go anywhere in your mind and create the feelings you want.
In my work with individuals and groups I talk a lot about being the creator of your own experience and teach skills and techniques to create and maintain the desired life experience. This is EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and can transform your life without any change in the weather, your partner, boss, bodyweight, bank balance or any other external circumstances.
Thoughts carry an energy. They have an effect on your health and well-being and your ability to achieve and experience what you want and don’t want in life. You can change your thoughts and are not at their mercy. Yes, you will have involuntary unpleasant ones. In fact it is estimated we have about 60,000 thoughts every day, 90% are the same ones and 70% are negative or redundant. But, you have the power to reach for good feeling thoughts and experience the associated good feeling emotions … whatever you choose to call them.
I regularly demonstrate the effect of thoughts on the body with muscle testing. I usually ask the person to extend an arm and I apply a light two finger pressure on the arm while I have them think or say something. If it feels good/true/resourceful the muscle indicates with a strong response. If the thought or words feel bad/false/not resourceful then the muscle tests weak. This is a powerful experiential demonstration and I have used it with Scottish weight lifting champions to show it has nothing to do with muscle strength.
Your body and mind are one. Everything in you is connected and inter-connected. When you feel good your body and mind thrives. Your health and well-being is enhanced. Your immune system is stronger and the functionality of your body is optimized.
There are two feelings that will raise your vibration to the highest level and they are available in your ‘back pocket’ anytime you choose to focus on and produce the feelings of …
LOVE and GRATITUDE
Focus on who you love, who loves you, what and where you love and anything you are grateful for. This focus and choice guarantees good feelings every time.
